An Affordable Digital Menu Board For Your Bakery

What if I told you that you can create an affordable digital menu board for your bakery for around $50? Would you believe me?

When we opened our pop up store inside Urban Eats in St. Louis, we dreamed of a menu board.

But… seriously can you imagine how expensive it would be to buy a digital menu board for your bakery?

So, we put that thought to the side and focused on building our business.

Then when we found our permanent location in Waterloo, IL we decided to do without the additional cost of a menu board, but we were wrong.

I feel like owning a business is filled with some amazing accomplishments, but it is also filled with several… well duh that was dumb I should have done it this way… moment.

This is one of those times in our bakery.

So, one day I got to talking to my husband about needing more signage both outside the building and inside the building.

We were braiding storming different signs we could use outside when he asked me… why don’t you have a digital sign inside the store?

I tried to explain to him the costs and that is when he shared with me  a brilliant solution that he uses at trade shows.

We built a digital menu board in our bakery with 3 things:

Chromecast (after Christmas sale $19.99+ tax)
-Tv (bought for $30 at an estate sale)
Yodeck (free account for 1 device)

Digital Menu Board

My husband helped me set up the Chromecast and showed me how to use Yodeck.

Now we have a digital menu board that we created for $50 in our shop.

We have ours flick through images currently. We set it up on a pattern.

We do menu board image, advertisement about weddings, menu board image, advertisement about fundraisers, menu board image, and advertisement for our Valentine’s Day menu.

The skies the limit when it comes to leveraging the digital menu board for your bakery.

However, you decide to use it, this is definitely a cheap and easy way to create an affordable digital menu board for your bakery.
